Livraria Lello opened in Porto, Portugal in 1906. It has been toted by many as ‘the most beautiful bookstore in the world’. This has led to a surge of people coming to visit the store to ogle all of its architectural beauty. But what about the books?
On seeing Castillo de los Templarios, I was immediately transported back in time to childhood fantasies. There were princesses and knights and grand battles. There was an army storming the gates, putting the castle under seige.
Once it was decided to start our journey, and to start in Spain, I knew that I would come into contact with many, many more examples of longevity. What I didn’t anticipate, was how alarmingly quick the old would become commonplace.
